Drawing and Painting Sound
part 2
45 Drawings: GSofA "sound" and Artbbasel Miami
Gino spent two years as Visiting Artist at Glasgow School of Art recording the reconstruction of The Mackintosh building making analogue sound drawings for his artist book "45 Drawings "Sound" GSofA". Capturing the organic and inorganic sounds from the Mackintosh Building as it underwent reconstruction and conservation after the terrible fire in 2014. Published in 2016 a selection of drawings made during this time were later exhibited at Artbasel Art Takes Miami", Miami 2017
Using a binary approach Gino used both his audio and visual senses to enact a data packet transaction which could be read as notation, through this process Gino makes signals that can be reread, reinterpreted and shared as a form of linked data.
A selection of the drawings formed graphical musical notation for compositions performed at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland by pianist Maria Donahue bridging the gap created by the creative silence of the Mackintosh building.
The collaborative and improvisational process linked different data senses through musical composition, performance drawing and dance..
The drawings made for this book were to be further extended and used as a musical score for orchestra further celebrating the rebirth and reopening of GSofA planned for 2018 but sadly the Macintosh was engulfed in flames for a second time in June 2018 leaving a burnt out shell.

The Glasgow School of Art
Exhibited at the Glasgow School of Art in the GSA library during the summer of 2017. The sound installation was a physical representation of the organic and inorganic acoustic frequencies Gino experienced at form the Macintosh at the Glasgow School of Art during its restoration following the devastating fire 2014
This exhibition was a continuation of work he had previously made for "Artivity" with Ligatus, Univesrity of the Arts London. Gino used notions of sound to develop a language that used a linked data process.
